M17x R4 with 7970m graphics card, all drivers are up to date, i have win8 and the only thing i've changed since getting the laptop is upgrading to win8 pro and getting dual ssd's but there was no problem initially. now, about 2 weeks later (the laptops about a month old) when playing League of Legends i randomly get flashes (only on some parts of the screen, sometimes the majority of the screen) of like a red picture or something random, and like last game the bottom right of my screen had lines (like blurry lines that distorted the image), i alt tabbed and then it was on the bottom left, these things usually just flash like for 0.05 seconds but the lines lasted for 5 seconds, i don't know if it's an overheating problem because it's usually around 10c in my room (freezing cold, like half the time my hands shiver while gaming) and i keep the laptop on my study desk. i haven't ever put it like on a bed or a pillow or anything because my last laptop got fcked due to overheating so i've been making extra sure about this one. though when i google'd the only thing i found is the GPU may be overheating problem. I'm running my laptop on the non-switchable graphics thing (i've seen major fps improvements, like before i'd play on med-high but now i'm gaming anything on ultra with 60fps even gw2).

by touching the vents at the back it feels like the left side is around 30c while the right is around 50-60. I know i ran a stress test earlier (without overclocking or anything) and it didn't go over 80c (or was it 90c) and someone told me that it meant my systems working fine.

Anyone know what the problem may be? i have League set on maximum settings with everything on full. Laptops on high performance mode, chargers plugged in (i haven't plugged it out except when i'm travelling/not using the system).

It sounds like stability issues (artifacts, etc.) either from overclocking or the gpu going bad. Are you monitoring temps? I use HWINFO64 with the 12.11 beta drivers to read temp, and MSI Afterburner to display the temp on screen while I game.

As i said, i haven't overclocked my system. and when i ran 3dmark11 i got a score of 5858 which is below average. What could the problem be?
