    Hi all,

I've been looking around in many forums for a solution but I only found people with the same problem.

Basicly when I have Hybrid graphics enabled and on Performance Mode my M17x crashes all the time.
Since then I've disabled hybrid graphics, but even so it will sometimes crash or freeze.

I've got the latest NVIDIA drivers installed, the 260.99.

It's way easier to show you in a picture:
(I had like 2-3 seconds from crashing till it shuts down)

It looks like your vid cards are dying.
BUT, to rule things out the first thing I would do is go back to the A06 drivers from dell (uninstall verde graphic drivers then boot into safe mode, do a registry clean with ccleaner)
If you can't stay in windows long enough to uninstall, do a system restore to before you installed the drivers.

See if that helps, if not I would contact dell and have them replace the motherboard and video cards as it should not blue screen with hybrid enabled and should not be tearing like that.

    Good luck

    D.

Try entering Safe Mode (would mean default windows drivers) if it doesn't happen is driver related. As stated above stay away from the nVidia Verde drivers install the P06 Dell beta on their website.
Also if you're out of warrenty i would take the cards appart from their heatsinks, clean them with 90° pharmacy alcohol using something like a toothbrush(go easy) let them dry or dry them yourself with a hairdryer if you'll do this you might want to replace the thermal pads on them along with the thermal paste. This can do wonders! <<--- at the same time you should know that i will not take any responsability for any damage you might cause in dissamnteling etc,if you're not comfortable with this DON'T DO IT. It was just a thaught just in case the driver issue gets rulled out.

    THanks for answering.

I guess you meant the A03 drivers instead of the A06.

This is the M17xR1, as you may already have guessed.

I bought this PC in USA, now I've living in Belgium.
The warranty on this system just ran out.

What should I tell Dell for them to replace the faulty parts?

No he wanted to say the P06 Video drivers in THIS link.
A03 are not that stable and cause Stuttering too.
Also if you're out of warrenty i doubt they will do anything :(

Also have you tried entering Safe Mode, press F8(multiple times to make sure) at the Alien logo then choose safe mode.

The issue appears video card related as stated earlier. However, if the issue only occurs with hybrid enabled, I would think that the motherboard needs replacing. I have seen repeat issues with the M17x where it appeared to be video but had more to do with malfunction and interference of components on the motherboard.

    Thanks,
    Gabe
