Hiya there, M17x owners. I'm new around these parts, but I've been reading posts on this forum. You see, I bit the bullet and bought a stock M17x R3. I was considering getting the 460m in place of the 6870, but I just barely made my budget and I couldn't go over my price line. Will I regret not buying the R3 with the 460m? Will my choice in not buying the 460m haunt me? Would it be possible to maybe buy a 460m later on and swap it with the 6870? I really hope I don't sound like an idiot by asking these questions. Sorry if I do. :)

If battery life isn't important to you, then 3d performance is similar between the two. However, if you plan to take the R3 out of the house for an extended time and want a long battery life, then you should have gotten the 460M that allows you to use optimus.

I don't think you'll regret it as you won't know the diff.
And in the future you could always find a deal on the 460M and upgrade to that.
Always buy within your budget, no point in stretching yourself too thin financially for a bit of hardware

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I just might upgrade a little later down the road when I can get a bit more cash.
