Ordered my R3 on Friday with the following configuration:

    2720qm
4gb (ordering 8GB HyperX from Newegg)
    320gb HDD
    Radeon 6970
    17" 1900 x 1080

Wondering if I should call EPP back and order with the 2820.

How much of a difference will I see in games between the two processors?

prolly very little. the 2 are very close in performance. 2820 is just for bragging rights.

Im using an r3 with the 2820 right now.. and my next order is for the 2720. .1 mhz... its a waste imo. I wish there was a .2 or .3 difference in speed then at least we could have felt like it was worth it. but .1? you can use that $200 towards a next gen ssd. WHich is what i'm doing ;)

I wouldn't waste the money. 5 minutes ago the 1st Core I7 was the fastest, now its not anymore. Don't waste cash on MHZ

Trust me dude, if you have extra money then throw it into a decent SSD. much better investment than the 2820, lol

^^ I'm with this guy. Much better investment getting a SSD. It saves you battery too, right with an SSD? Therefore, prolongs the longevity of your battery! Win-win!

well lets also remember that the 2820qm has 8mb of cache which is 2mb more than the 2720

    2.20ghz v 2.30ghz base 3.30ghz v 3.40ghz turbo boosted
6mb cache vs 8mb cache --- I think you can justify it... although yes the ssd is the better side to throw your nickles.

Honestly its not as far fetched as many make it out to be... plus if you plan on OCing it, and use the new modified bios to unlock you CPU the 2820 has more potential... mirite?

What does cache do for everyday tasks (e.g. Starcraft 2 on ultra on battlenet) ? :)
