Selectable resolutions in games

Good morning to everyone. I recently purchased a new M17x R3 with the 6990m and the 1600x900 panel. The issue i have is that in all the games i tested it (Rage, Crysis 2, Sleeping Dogs etc.) i cannot select any other resolution apart from 720p and the panel's native resolution. Currently it is not an issue since i can play everything maxed out but in the future...who knows. Thanks for the help.

p.s. Forgot to add i am running the drivers of off Dell's site for the M17x R4 so i can have IGP switching (which is rubbish by the way!)

 

I believe that 720p is the lowest some of these games will go now. I am not absolutely sure though. I've looked on a couple of their FAQ pages and they list all the requirements EXCEPT screen resolution...go figure. You might have to email them to find out what the minimum resolution is the game will play.

 

Thanks for the reply. The thing is that in all the games only 1600x900 and 1280x720 appear as resolutions, nothing in between say 1440x900 or 1360x768 in my older toshiba x205 i could select any resolution i wanted from 800x600 all the way to 1680x1050 as long as it was 16:9 or 16:10.

 

Native resolutions, señor. The game mfgrs are probably limiting the aspect ratio to 16:9 as those are the resolutions these games are created for. Or it could be the LCD panel on your R3 doesn't support any 16:9 resolutions other that 1600x900 and 1280x720. That might be worth checking.
