    Hi,

I'm thinking of selling my R2. This is my current set up:
    M17x R2, i7 Processor 840QM, CrossFire ATI 5870, 6144MB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM

How much of a performance increase would I get from this:
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM ( up to 3.7GHz)
    2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 680M
    8192MB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel

    What's your opinion?

    Cheers,
    Russ

Plenty, mainly due to the GPU being far more powerfull, the rest you won't notice as much as the GPU.

It all depends what price you can sell and what price you can buy I guess, as an GTX 680m also fits your R2 :)

Cheers! How difficult would it be to fit the 680 in my R2?

Remember that the the screen of the r2 is best so far ( if you have rgb) - people with r3 and r4 love the r2 screen ( for the most art). I just recently upgraded my r2 with an xm processor and a 7970 card.. And its awesome. Yet, an r4 has true usb 3.0. And new architecture. Fasterrocessor too. So those are also big pluses. In simple temrs, for about 500 you can keep your r2, its gorgeous screen add the 680m card and you should be golden. Else, if you sell your r2 i feel you will still need to add at least $1300 out of pocket to buy the new machine.
