Has anyone sent their laptop back to Dell for repair after opening it up and repasting the CPU and GPU? I need the DVD drive replacing and possibly the graphics card also.

    Thanks

Yeah, y'all 're good. The warranty isn't voided by opening up and changing components or cleaning and repasting so long as y'all didn't damage anything in the process. Just make sure to NOT include the hard drives with it and to make sure the original components are what are installed in the notebook before you send it in. For example, if you RAM was upgraded in your R3, put the original RAM back in. Same thing with any other aftermarket components. I strongly recommend removing your hard drives from the notebook before y'all send it to Depot cause the issues which you posted don't seem to be hard drive or software related. But there's always a chance Depot service will reformat and clean install Windows if they need to test the new graphics card drivers. Better safe than sorry.

I accidentally forgot to remove the ram I upgraded when I had to send my laptop out to the warehouse for repairs...twice. Thankfully none of the issues had to do with ram, so it wasn't touched at all. I don't think they mess with any changes you make unless it actually has something to do with the problems the laptop is having.

I would recommend to put the system back to defaults when sending it in.
