My M17x R1 (see specs in sig) has a serious freezing issue (lock-up) when gaming and only hen gaming. I recently (three days ago) restored it to factory condition and upgraded it with Win7 along with the most current video drivers from Dell. It is running beautifully except during gaming. I only play World of Warcraft and Starcraft2. The game freezes about 75% of the time while gaming. Any ideas? Could it be a cooling issue? Should I look inside at the fans?

    Thanks for your help.

GPUz and CPUz will let you save a log file of the temps

and monitor them in real time as well

if its a hardware issue, it wouldnt be so irrelevant :)

after the games freeze, check C:\Windows\Livekernalreports\WATCHDOG ... analyse the dump files there.

if the bug code is 0x0000000117 VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED and you are sure that you are on the latest drivers, VBIOS, and your temps arent exceeding 85 while intense gaming, than i would recommend you RMA.

am telling you this so you wouldnt spend much time trying to fix it if its hardware issue, i searched for days on the net about this problem and this problem doesnt seem to be related to ATI only or Nvidia only (form what ive searched). i tried just about every software fix possible, and nothing solved the problem.

changed the master GPU and everything was perfect (in my case it was the master card that is faulty).

    good luck
