m17x R4 or m18x R2 better i think. If you go with R4 make sure u have the next specs:
    ivy bridge 3820QM
    amd 7970m

that would be enough for next 3 or so years i think.

You can always get a quote from Allen, I hear he is giving out good deals. Check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=657421

Read through the thread for info, as I believe the email on the first post does not work. Also, be patient with Allen, he's been getting quotes up to his eyeballs lately.

I really enjoy my Alienware, wouldn't buy any other high end laptop. :). I do recommend as much accidental damage warranty as you can afford, though. If you do run into any problems, it will more than pay for itself, and Dell will take care of you.

I think you need to realise that people usually flock to forums to solve problems, so judging a laptop's longevity on forum post's isnt wise.

Unless you see an Official Dell recall notice then its safe to assume this machine is problem free, which from my experience and from a majority of others, is true.

1 year now and no hardware failures, at all. Good maintenance of your machine will always do a world of good.

Of course, there are Laptops that have issue's and you may just be one of those unlucky enough to get a dud or one with issues but thats a fact of life as a consumer, with any product. Google Mecrcedes Benz issues, or Macbook air issues, this list will be endless, but they're still one of the worlds best selling in there own right.

Alienware are a very reliable brand and laptop, from my experience so i say go for it. A fantastic bit of kit.

I think most "Gaming" laptops are meant to be used extensively thus its always possible that you encounter some issues.

Whether you go with Sager, Clevo or AW; they all mostly use the same parts anyway. Its a matter of personal choice. And also the support you get from fellow users and from manufacturer itself.

Personally, I am more than satisfied with the Dell/AW tech supports. They wont stop calling you almost everyday while you have a pending issue just to check if your issue is being taken care of. At least that's my experience.

And you wont run out of help from being part of a community of helpful users like this Alienware Section
