    Hiya All,

Well, not long to go now and I'll own my first Gaming laptop in years. I've had a couple of false starts with Alienware for one reason or another and never actually got to have one but this time, it should be 3rd time lucky.

It was shipped yesterday but is still in China according to the Tracking number with an ETA of 24th June.

    The spec is:

    Alienware 17 Base
    4th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4910MQ processor (Quad Core, 8MB Cache, Overclocked up to 4.1GHz)
    17.3 inch (439.42 mm) 120Hz WLED FHD (1920 x 1080) TrueLife w/3D Bundle
    Alienware 17 Anodized Aluminum - 3D
    32GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz (4x8GB)
    256GB mSATA SSD Boot + 1TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s- NV
    Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (9.5mm)
    240W AC Adapter
8-cell Lithium Ion (86 wHr) Battery
    UK 250V Power Cord
    NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 880M graphics with 8GB total GDDR5
    802.11ac Dual Band 2x2 AC WiFi +Bluetooth 4.0
5G WiFi 802.11n/ac Wireless and Bluetooth 4.0 driver
    Internal UK/Irish (QWERTY) Keyboard
    Windows 8.1 Pro (64Bit) English
Alienware 17 Silver Anodized Aluminum (For 3D LCD)

First thing I'll do is install MS Office and transfer my work stuff so that it is all set for my business needs - bet I'm one of the few to have that as a priority with an Alienware product! :D

First thing you should do is backup the system using AlienRespawn.

    Congrats.

I am curious when your system went in production before it got shipped, also where is it shipping to?
I suspect (Or rather hope) that my AW17 will be shipped today, it's been in production since Monday.

5 Days on in production that's quite allot, guess mine won't be shipping today then. My ETA was the 18th before it got canceled and rebooked now it's 1-7-14.

2 of those 5 days were a weekend though so 3 working days which isn't too bad.

I placed my Order over the phone and was told the ETA would be 25.04.2014 even though the Website showed 20.04.2014.

I'm in no hurry though, so no worries here :) I only needed to have the deal concluded by the 4.07.2014 as that's when I go overseas and deliver my MacBook to my Dad who will be the new owner.

Five days in production is nothing. That's pretty quick. I've had systems (in the past) in production for two weeks or more.

The previous 3 laptops and 1 tablet never stayed longer then 2 days in production, Guess i was lucky.
Usually it's the Pre-Production which takes the most time as this is were they get all the parts to build the system.

    It's a race! lol

Happy with the Netherlands football team in Brazil? They are looking great - could go on to win if they keep playing like they are.

Maybe :) They are looking great but i don't know if they can handle the pressure when they go further towards the finals.
