My order just shipped, and I ordered the best possible shipping method: Next business day. The ESTIMATED delivery date (key word estimated) is now 8/16/10. I haven't gotten the tracking number since it just shipped, but I'm curious as to whether or not there's a possibility that I'll get it tomorrow, Saturday. I know that UPS delivers on Saturdays so I wouldn't see why it wouldn't come tomorrow.

Has anyone ever gotten their laptop on a Saturday?

afaik, Dell uses Fedex Home delivery as it's shipping carrier, who *do* deliver on saturdays (but not Mondays) If you have a Fedex tracking number, chances are good that it'll get there tomorrow, if you have a UPS number, they do not deliver on saturdays unless you specifically pay for it. In the case of a UPS number it will tell you on the tracking information whether Saturday delivery was paid for. In either case, the Dell estimated delivery date is hardly ever accurate, go by what the tracking number says.

They sent me a prepaid UPS label to return the M15x I originally ordered.

Edit: Just checked my box for the M15x (returning it today) and it was send FEDEX Standard Overnight. Does that include Saturdays?

Edit 2: http://fedex.com/us/services/us/index.html?tsid=s2&tssect=app5 looks like I won't be getting it tomorrow. We'll see when I get the tracking #...

They use UPS for refurbs returns and spare parts a lot of times, for actual systems and online orders it's almost always fedex home delivery.

I had the package come to my work and it happened to be Saturday that I would get it. So I called Fedex and had them hold it at the nearest Fedex location for local pickup. It worked great and I picked it up on Saturday.

Hmmm, even if it doesn't go out for delivery on Saturday, maybe I can pick it up @ the facility?

you'd have to find out where the Fedex depot and sorting facility is. You can't just go to any Fedex store. Then, in my experience his result of them holding it there for him is not typical.

Once you get the tracking number you can call Fedex with it and ask if it's possible to pick up the item.

The only reason I went to pick it up was since it was going to be delived to my work on Saturday and no one works on Saturday, I wouldn't have gotten it until Tuesday.

But if you want to pick it up, you'll need to have the tracking number and give them a call.

You should be able to pick it up on a Saturday as I did with my R1. The facility was 45 miles away though it was a huge pain...

There are a couple of divisions of FedEx, Home delivery ships on saturday, their normal service does not. There's Fedex business, but they only ship to commercial addresses
