I ordered my m17x R2 on 9/7, and at that time it showed a delivery date of 9/13. I got a message that it was going to be delayed to 9/17. I emailed the rep who processed my order because he said this was likely to happen and if it did he could put in an expedite. Which he did. He emailed me on Monday the 13th to let me know that the manufacturing dept got back to him and said everything was a go ahead and it would take 3 days to build. So today my order status is still showing a delivery date of 9/17 (I have next business day shipping) but the system is still showing in production/not shipped. ARG!

Anyone have any guesses when I will get this thing? If it ships tomorrow instead of today will I have to wait til Monday which would be technically the next business day? That would suck. Or does who ever they use deliver on Saturdays too?

Super big huge beyond belief bummer. I took a vacation day for the 17th so I could be sure to be home to sign for the delivery. Guess I'll spend the day doing housework instead of playing with the new toy.

So I was just curious and checked the order status again just now, and found I had to confirm another delay to 9/23. I have the email from the dell rep from 9/13 stating the manufacturing dept gave the go ahead to put it together in 3 days. Should I pitch a fit? I tried emailing the rep who processed the system purchase and the expedite, but got an out of office reply that he wont be back till 9/22.

yeah it happens, i was told by the rep i dealt with i would receive it middle of the following week, it arrived the end of the week after that, when i rang about it they said sorry but the delivery dates are estimates only, i then said if i didn't hear anything by the following day id be canceling my order, later that day i got a shipped/arrived/with local courier status update and received it the following day.......so i guess you could ring and see what happens......send them the links from the rep and say you need it for work etc.....

    good luck to you mate

sefirothe, fyi, I ordered a machine for my friend from the outlet and it shipped in a day whereas my new machine, which was ordered over a week ago, is still being built. Frustrating. :(

Whew. I called Dell today ready to breathe fire and brimstone. I'm going on vacation the end of next week and a delivery of the 23rd was pushing it on whether or not someone would be here to sign for it. Found out it did ship today, got a tracking number and it should be delivered on Monday. Funny, I thought FedEx had saturday deliveries too. Oh well. Monday is much better than Thursday/Friday of next week!

sefi, saturday delivery is an expensive option and Dell, no way in hell, is going to pay for that. Not even with their priority overnight shipping. It's just their policy. :(

Ahh, you know that does ring a bell from when I used to set up the FedEx/DHL shipments for the office I used to work for a couple years ago. Here's to hoping this weekend flys by quickly! :D
