I heard Ivy Bridge will be out early 2012. It is supposed to be the same socket as Sandy Bridge. Does anyone know if laptop users of sandy bridge can upgrade to ivy bridge?

do you receive letters on your webmail box from dell asking if are you satisfied with feeback you are given? if you are not you can always forward that email to alienware resolution bla bla bla and after all required info you can write how flamed you are regarding your experience and that you need immediate support

Wow, you just got a bad rep. I asked to be transferred to the U.S. when I ordered and they did it.

Just get mad with them. Turn green and crush things.

Ordered M17XR3 late march, laptop was delivered this week, called and will probably be sending it back .. Key is to get a RMA # and after that its your choice.

M18X is nice, but like many people said, its more of a desktop replacement. And the base model M18x will be selling for $2000, To get the same kinda of specs that came with my 17x I will probably be looking at another $500.

Question is .... is it worth the extra $500.

I think your best solution if you are stuck to the m18x is to keep quite at the moment (you tried anything possible to do things the right way) and receive the system.

When you open (I know that is not nice what I say but whatelse to say), try to make a scratch or something on the system and call them. They will be forced to either replace the damage, get you a new system or REFUND your money.

Voila! No more worries. Get your money back, wait for a while and then call them after few days, order your m18x (tell them about your bad experience [scratches / damage] and delay and DEMAND nicely discount) and be happy with what you always wanted 'the best'.

And yes, when you order, go for the best screen, GPU (Cf or SLi) and CPU (like I did with my m17x R3). Last I bought 160GB Intel SSD + 750 HDD 7200 RPM + 16GB Kingston HyperX from newegg for a total of 600 + tax (In Canada) and you got the best system you wanted. Good Luck!

18 inch laptop is too expensive and too big for me. Price out a $3500 dollar AW desktop....will run circles around that M18 for same money.

    Dude don't encourage fraud.

Anyhow, its likely you'll find something wrong with your m17x anyhow so don't worry.

I do not encourage anything. But when you try your best to do things the right way and you do not succeed, unfortunately you have to become like them to get what you want.

And yes you have 21 days return policy...

Definitely do not scratch it. They can end up blaming you for it and you'll be stuck with it. Like stated previously, there is a 21 day return period which, as far as I know, does not incur the 15% restocking fee. Best of luck.

Haha, well I didn't turn into the Hulk but I certainly didn't just roll over.

The rep seemed to be upset he wasn't able to force me into the 15% fee.

I told him I thought policy was they had to transfer me to the US if I specifically requested it. At one point I told him to just transfer me to anyone other than him and he refused that as well. Eventually he he did once I didn't cave...

I wouldn't do that, I prefer to be honest. I'm just trying to be a customer, and a good one at that.

I just think Dell needs to work a bit on their customer service aspects. I'm trying to give them thousands of dollars here.

Did they charge your CC already? Worst case, just call your CC to either cancel your card or tell them to block dell charges.

I am starting to think it's actually just the rep you are getting from India though.

They charged, I will block and told the rep that and he said that wouldn't do anything.

You know what, I'm starting to think it was just the rep as well.
