I live outside the states and my friend is bringing me my still "In production" M17x R3 .
after reading all the R3 defect/problems her, Should I CANCEL my order and save my self?
I may have a year warranty but I will have to ship the laptop back and forth and pay for it my self to ship internationally if I faced a defect.
What do you think?

I did, but it's really up to you personally.
My order was delayed until May, and I just didn't really feel like waiting that long.
I ended up going with a Clevo reseller. Got an equivalent price for a stronger overall system. I would have loved to have an alienware, and I still might one day, but I'm happy with my purchase. -
I hope I don't get delayed, that might be a problem since my friend will change his address and maybe leave the country.
but I am more worried about the defects. It seems many people have them -
One thing to remember is that most of what you will read on the forums is negative feedback. I bet a lot of ppl that are happy with their R3's are busy enjoying them rather then posting good reviews.
I for one have not had one single problem with my R3. No scratches, no BSOD, ect. Everything that has been reported as broke has been fine on my end.
Don't let all the negative feedback get to you. People want to vent there problems but keep the good things to themselves. -
And it's good to hear that someone hasn't had any problems. Hope to get mine with no delays. -
If your country sells the 17 R3 the warrenty is valid in your country, you dont have to ship it back to the USA. Only thing you need to do is fill in the warrenty transfer form on the Dell site.
You need the information of the person who ordered it for you, just look at he form and gather all the info you need and fill in the form. Easy as taking candy from a baby.
Should I cancel my order?
