I can get 15% off via EPP right now by going through a link provided in this forum almost a year ago, without having to call any sale agent (I don't know if it's ok to post the link here so...).

Problem is the deal is only valid until Aug 5th AFAIK, I don't know whether or not they're gonna drop it to 7% as we normally can get.

I don't want to order now because 740QM is not available in the US yet but I also am afraid that after the deal is ended it's unable to deal with sale agents to get anything better than 15%.

So I'm torn between ordering one before Aug 5th and wait until 740QM is out. I don't mind dealing with sale agents by any mean, I'm just afraid that they technically CANNOT offer me 15%+ anymore in a week or two.

    What I should do now?

    Thanks!

I think you should wait. EPP is normally 10% and getting an extra 5% from an agent isn't very difficult.

Why wait, there is such a small increase in speed?
Would someone explain what the big deal, please.

I don't get it either. There's not really enough of a speed increase to warrant waiting.

If you're getting a 15% discount, no questions asked, order the system. If you're worried about the CPU then just buy a 920XM/940XM later and install it yourself.

It's more complicated than that. Firstly I'm currently working hard everyday so I don't need/have time for an M17x. Second, 15% seems not to be a big deal anyway since people are getting 17-19% off MSRP. As long as I can still get the discount people are getting right now by the time I move back to school in Sep, waiting will be just fine If only it's not the case then I would have to buy one right now.

About 740QM, it's just something... new lol. Other than that it's not a big deal for me ;)

This time it's different Aikimox. The last time I said I'm a happy camper I was literally bankrupted because of audio hobby. This time I have more than enough thank to great summer job and I'm ready. No latter than Sep ;)

    Thanks :)

You do realize that the later you go for the R2 - the sooner you'll regret not waiting till SB ;) Oh, the eternal agony...

    @ Aikimox,

What is the deal with Sandy Bridge, is it better than what is currently out performance wise? Also, what is it truly capable of?

Just another little bump in performance/battery life/smaller ff/etc. I'd say up to 10-20% performance gain, same regarding the battery life, poorER OC'ing and SATA3...

Nice performance gain but ewww on the OC'ing, basically it's just newer tech with minor bumps in performance. Not really worth switching in my book but then again I will have to see what other capabilities it may have when it's released. Thanks for the info!

There will be new cards when Sandy bridge hits which will be far more exciting then the CPUs :)...

hey man do some research you are in the midwest and so am i. I am in missouri and we have tax free holiday aug 6-8. Apple already sent me emails to buy on their website. I am sure dell will also have tax free on that day the weekend call them and take the 10% and haggle another 5% and some warranty discounts/free upgrades and get no tax. Much better than your deal that you have
