My friends offer me a pretty sweet deal that trade my Q9000 for his T9900, should i go for that (i have a R1)? I really don't need multitasking, all i need is gaming, emulation (pcsx2, dolphin), concerning furture gaming, should it perform better? and how much? is it worth the trade?
    Many thanks in advance!

If gaming is your main purpose, definitly go for the t9900. Most games are optimized for 2 cores anyways.

umm yes as quick as you can. just for monetary reasons, the q9000 goes for top price of $200. the T9900 is rarely under $350. T9900 is the best option for C2D based Laptops. runs super cool @ 25wTDP. if you dont want to send that person to me i will trade a Q9000 for it in a heartbeat.

    Yes, go for it 100%!
You can OC it easily to 3.5-3.6GHz. I remember, one of the BIOS updates provided a little more headroom for OC'ing.

you actually meant 35wTDP not 25. still it runs much cooler than the Q9000 at 45wTDP.

do it IMMEDIATELY. the T9900 will run even cooler since the heat sink was desingned to cool down quad core CPUs. I have a T9900 on my M17x and it runs as cool as 22 degrees celcius at idle. of course with a cooling pad beneath the laptop.

I was able to OC mine to slightly more than 3700 but keep it regularly to 3335.

    I hope this helps

Its the best non core i7 processor out there. It runs smoothly and powerful. It has the same power of the X9100 but with the benefit of a newer architecture so i put it up next to the Q9100

The T9900 will decimate the Q9000 in single-thread execution, but the Q9000 has more total computing power. If you're really only using one or two cores at a time, there's going to be a pretty significant difference between the two, with the T9900 coming out pretty far ahead. I'm with these guys.. for the stuff you say you plan on doing, single-threaded execution speed is going to be what you need. Go for it.

Even at multy-thread it will outperform in alot of cases. Some prefer it above the QX9300 for everyday use

That is BS. Just buy one of these:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...1425-apple-imac-specific-c2d-cpus-anyone.html

They will work and will probably be detected as the Txxx series.

    They are cheap too.

    e.g.:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/2-93GHZ-INTEL-C...9214?cmd=ViewItem&pt=CPUs&hash=item5d28fc424e

Anyway the T9900 is worth 250:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core2-Duo...1972?cmd=ViewItem&pt=CPUs&hash=item4cef6d4be4

And the Q9000 is about 150.

So if you want to trade, you would probably have to pay $100.

But really I would keep the quad. Or buy the imac specific CPU.
