Hey, I just bought a new Alienware 17 with 1070 gpu and 6700-HQ Processor. I am not much of a gamer but I thought I might try a new gaming laptop. So i got Witcher 3 with it, and I maxed out all the settings (on ultra) and the game was working perfectly fine until, my laptop is shut down on its own while gaming. This happened thrice so I monitored by CPU and GPU temps by doing stress testing. The GPU temperature remains at around 60-65C whereas CPU temps went up to 85C. While playing Witcher 3, CPU temps went up to 89C. I don't know what's happening. I just got my laptop 3 days ago and it's frustrating!

    Please help guys.

    Thanks

sounds like your cpu is getting overheated. considering repasting it with IC diamond. The stock thermal compound is not very good sometimes.

Just got my 17r4 same issues started to try and tweak it myself, temps hitting on all 4 cores between 80c-100 for seconds at a time under benching etc. New to PC but not an idiot also it's overclock to 4.92GHZ runs smoothly at 4.6GHZ but heat still fluctuates in the high 80s and 90s for seconds on and off. Thinking about repasting this weekend. This is the i7-7820hk and 1080 gtx
