okay so i got the r2 replacement for my broken r1. look at the specs in my sig.

when i shut down the computer 90% of the time, the screen shuts off, but the keyboard lights stay on, and then the fans go on full power. so i have to just force it to shut down by holding down the power button.

and when it returns from being put to sleep, the screen comes on but stays blank.

i'm using all the drivers it came with from the factory with the exception i upgraded to A09, and the 10.10 mobility drivers.

    any ideas to fix this?

Oles chiefs. WOWsers nice system specs hey. Colour me jealous LOL. I'm eyeing your 940XM lol ehehehehe oles :p :p ;) :D :D :D

Okay so you have the A09 system bios and Dells new GPU driver installed. Have you updated the vbios for the 5870 GPUs? If not that is your problem ules. Once that vbios is updated all your problems you mentioned above will be solved oles!

You will need either a 2gb usb flash drive. No larger capacity is accepted or a blank CD/R will also suffice.

    Cheers. :)

    No worries chiefs.

Just download the vbios flash update. Run it and choose either the usb flash drive option or to make it using the CD/R option. Then reboot the notebook with the media still intacted. Then Hit F12 after you see the Alien head and it will load up the boot menu. There you select which ever option you made earlier, either usb or cd then enter run the GPU vbios update Press B and follow the on screen instructions.

    Cheers. :)

Probably yes however you will have one major hurdle stumbling block.

When you go to run the vbios installer it won't detect your 5870s properly so it won't allow you to make the usb or CD/R media that you will need to perform the flash.

It is best if you uninstalled 10.10 and went back to the dell drivers on the driver support site 1st chiefs. Then flash update the vbios and then you can install the 10.10s again.

    Cheers. :)
