I reinstalled Windows, and went through a few days of hardship before I got everything up and running correctly again, but it seems now that I'm on the right track.

One thing I noticed is that my sleep and hibernate options in the shut down menu are blacked out. What is going on here?

    Thanks in advance,

    HT

Sounds like your GPU drivers are not installed correctly.
Reinstall them chiefs and you should be golden.

    Cheers. :)

I can't seem to get them installed. When I go to the dell site and go to video drivers, there is one listed for AMD Driver (for Mobility Radeon HD5870s). I install that, and it enters the Catalyst Control Center and successfully completes the install. But then, when I try to go back in the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) it says that the graphics drivers for my system are not installed...

Okay. How do I get back into the installer?

It seems to me that the "installer" for this was the Catalyst Control Center, and for some reason it doesn't want to let me back into that...

I get a message that says something to the extent of, "Install the Correct Driver for Your Hardware and try again." Not exactly what it says, but that's the gist.

You run the installer again. It will see that something's already installed and give you some options.

Okay, I uninstalled everything. Rebooted, then reinstalled. I did a custom uninstall and a custom install, making sure everything was checked, and I'm getting the same message, saying that I have no drivers installed when I try to open the CCC. This is confirmed by WinAmp, because it won't open the visualizer, saying I have no advanced graphics configuration or something to that extent.

Is this possibly a hardware error?
