I received my laptop back in the middle of March after the whole sandy bridge fiasco. It seems like every couple of weeks another issue comes up with it.
First, when I received it, I noticed what appear to be 2 very small scratches or debris between the covering and the screen itself. Since you only notice it when that area of the screen is dark, I decided to let it go.
Of course the soft touch finish is terrible for scratching, but I've done a decent job of protecting it. Then I noticed that the finish is wearing off on both of the hinges. More damage on the right than the left. Other than never closing the lid, how can they be protected?
Issue # 3. I typically only use the volume controls on the media buttons. Now I notice that the plate is starting to curl up on the right hand side.
Up to this point, the issues have been mostly petty and have not effected performance. But over the past couple of weeks I have been having a video problem. Every once in a while the screen will go dead for a half second or so. It usually happens when I open the lid, the logon screen will come on and, as I stated, go dead for a half second or so.
I'm thinking about sending it to get all the items repaired and then selling it as soon as I get it back. I'm just afraid the hinge and media button plate issues will continue to develop.
Sorry for the long post, but just curious if anyone else has had any of these issues. Also, what would you do? If i did sell it I would probably try to get an R2 or M18x.
Small issues starting to add up with Mx17 R3D.
