10.5a from my experience. Anything above that, including the new Dell beta driver, and I start having strange issues with crossfire.
-
Yeah thats what im on now. Is there any way to get SC2 to run better in 10.5?
-
Not that i know of.
-
10.7 runs perfect on my machine, up until now 10.6 was better for benching, but 10.7 shows some gain over the previous drivers. i haven't had any issues with x-fire on 10.7 with any games at all.
-
Do you play wow? if so how does that run on 10.7? Also If you could link me the the correct 10.7 driver that worked for you, that would be awesome.
-
hmmm, Good question Splitinfinities. I have been having great success with the dell beta drivers so far.
Which bios are you using cleverpseudonym? -
i play wow on occasion, not enough to form an accurate opinion on weather it addresses every issue there has been in the past. im running A06, ill probably stay with it. i just downloaded the mobility driver from amd website.
-
to any of you with 4870's running 10.6 or higher do me a huge favor?
open AMD Clock Tool and on the thermal sensors tab, can you tell me if it has the VDDC readings for both cards? -
yes it does
-
if your worried about ocing the cads you should bios flash them, its a tom more stable.
-
I know flashing them is the best way but have you tried it through AMD GPU Tool? As i cant get it to work with mine
-
i havent tried since i upgraded the drivers to 10.6 from 10.4, did you try the furmark trick?
-
yup, i tried trick s I'll figure it out sooner or later
-
I already do that. I'm not worried about overclocking, I've just noticed that it does this in every driver version greater than 10.5. and that i have problems with xfire. They seem to be correlated, I was just trying to see if anyone else was showing the same thing.
-
i think you might have other issues, ive never had x-fire issues with these drivers. amdtool has always been sketchy though
-
That maybe, It's specifically related to 10.6+ though. If I go back to 10.5a everything works fine.
It does the same thing on the Dell beta's as well. Im hoping dell will release an official driver soon, so that if it continues to do the same thing, I'll actually be able to harass dell/AW about it.
It might be something to do with having an R1, doesn't seem like it would though.
So Currently whats the best 4870 ATI Driver?
