With another 460m when I was told I'd be getting a 6970m as a replacement.

What. The. Heck dell? Email me saying you'd replace it with a 6970m, and send a 460m instead.

What should I do guys? I already emailed the dell exec back, but he's out of the office at the moment.

did u pay extra to get a upgrade?

They could have thought initially that the 460m is not available, but later found out that there are many in stock. That is probably the reason.

I am not so sure how you could get the 6970m if this wasnt paid upgrade just for the parts.

    1) He coulda have thought initially that 460m wasnt available but later did and sent you that. the one exception wording is just there to make you feel good, but later the agent probably found it unnecesary to send you the good part.

    2) MAYBE it was not approved or something cause the 460m is available.

They actually say things in advance first to make you feel good. I think that is why they have so fast results right away, but the result could be pretty disappointing.

I would love to help you fight this, but I just dont see what kind of leverage you would have.

I hear there are shortages of 6970m cards. That is the reason why Clevo had to take off the 6970m from their website. Even AW doesn't supply the 6970ms anymore.

Yeah, they sent me a 4870m 3 times in a row without ever sending me the second 5870m that was actually supposed to be sent to me. 3 mother@#$%^& times. LOL. Later I was actually told this was because the 5870's were on back order...and I would actually get it faster if I returned the entire system and and got a new one made with a second 5870 already in it. So that is what I did. Lame sauce.

If your looking for a free upgrade you have very little footing to stand on since you paid for a 460M. If they have them available, I don't see why they would give you a 6970M. It's abuse of a the system why extended warranties cost so much.

Eh, it never hurts to try. I knew I had little to no footing, but I was surprised since this was the first time I've personally experienced Dell saying one thing, then doing another.

I'd be on the phone and at their throats lol.

Saying one thing and doing another, well that's exactly what I have experienced with dell the other day. Phoned them asking for a screen upgrade, they end up getting into a conversation with me, on "why the screen isn't good enough", ending the call with a "we will call you back sir asap", no call received. And they were intending to replace it as a repair... I want an upgrade not another damned low res screen!!
