Been wanting an Alienware M17x for 6 years now, and finally convinced my dad to buy me one due to my good exam results. Should be arriving next week. I can't wait :D

    Yep.

Got the m17x r3 with i7 2720qm, 8GB RAM, Nvidia 560m, 120Hz screen, 500GB SSD Hybrid, nebula red. I ordered through HIDevolution, so I got the Diamond thermal compound on the processor and graphics card, I'm planning on overclocking the 560m a bit as I've heard it overclocks well. I also ordered a notebook cooler with it aswell to keep it cool. I would have got the 580m but it was just too expensive.

My first actual gaming laptop was a Dell E1705. 7950GTX goodness. What's funny is that I paid almost as much for that GPU as a 6990M costs now. 'Wow, your laptop actually plays video games?' Things have come a long way.

My first "powerful" laptop was the XPS M1530 with the 8600m GT. I remember cranking out Cod4 at highest settings and being the envy of all my class and boarding house. I then got a MacBook pro which be the standards of the time was no longer that powerful. I traded that for a M15x and since then, I've been addicted to Alienware.

    You're gonna love it man!

I remember the feeling when I got my first gaming laptop back in mid '08. 8800m GTS 512mb. That thing was a beast. Saved for an entire summer from my job valet parking cars. $1350 was the sticker price. I had been dead set on an alienware until I did the maths and found out even a whole summer of saving wouldn't be enough for one.

First game I played was NFSU2. I can't even describe the amazement I felt when I was able to crank everything up to maximum and the framerate didn't even budge from 60fps.

To put it in perspective my previous laptop had a intel 910/915gml integrated piece of crap. NFSU2 on lowest settings got me ~6fps.
