Hi guys, i start to play some games like BFBC2, MOH, Homefront and Dead Space2, this is my third m17x after two replacements.
I test those games (BFBC2 and MOH) because heres gonna be a new Battlefield, the 3, so, i was checking how this run on my system, since they are from the "same developers", it will give me an idea about, the problem is that i am getting a bad performance on both, i have to set to medium and even low quality to get an smooth movement left-right or visceversa; i know FPS must goes down but i think that for my system (specs on sight), it should run does games smooth; recently i did a test (canyourunit), some of you help me and say that the test was wrong, because it says thatn my card have just 700 megas, not 1GB, some of you said that im ok but, thinking about my performance, im starting to get pissed off; Homefront also have bad performance on high quality, is hard to turn left or right and dont feel this movement as heavey or slow, like if you loose some actions while looking.
COD works great, and also Dead Space 1 and two, both at max.
Any ideas about what can be happening?, should i use CAP (i dont know how to use it), or how to test the VCard RAM?.
Thanks and sorry for ask a lot :/

check what dx version you are running for those games. i think it defaults to dx11, set it to dx10 or lower and you should get better fps.
-
Thanks for your help, friend, but, how can set up the direct X to use?, i dont see any of that options in both games.
-
1. Go to
C:\Users\\Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor MP
Open “settings.ini”and change “DxVersion” from “auto” to “9″ or "10". Also try running the game as admin in Windows Vista SP2 compatibility
http://segmentnext.com/2010/10/11/medal-of-honor-2010-errors-crashes-freezes-bugs-and-fixes/
should be the same for bfbc2. -
Thanks, i will do that, but, here is something really strange; i went into diagx and i found that i have installed DX11 (do the games install their our version of DX, or should i uninstall it and download the Dx10?) (Check the 1 image.
The second picture is what i am talking about, it say that my card have just 748 MB, not the 1GB of ram which is supossed to be, is that normal? (Check picture 2) (No Xfire settings, just single card) -
some programs report the wrong memory, so thats normal. just change that ini file, you don't need to unistall dx11 or do anything else.
-
I dont have such that folder or file in here :/
C:\Users\\Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor MP
Just found: C:\userr\myuser\mydocuments\EA Games Medal of Honor, there is a folder called config, inside lots of files, the near to user config could be MOHAEditorUserSettings.ini, but nothing such Dxversion
Thanks for your help, is a relief to know, again, nothing is wrong with my card -
i think its in the mutli-player folder.
-
Thanks dude, you are my hero so far
Well, so far i test with BFBC, cant get the settings foile for MOH, i dont have MP installed by the way; tested with Dx10 and i got 43.9 average, playable, but some glitches on video scnes, i mean, the character talk and sometimes looks like the movements when you are in front an stroboscope light; same happens with Dx11, 42 average, and, with Dx9, 59.9, really higher, but, in the same video secuence, despite i didnt got glitches on the movemens, i got glitches on the background (ground) texture, i mean, if the ground is brown, it turns to green and brown non stop. -
see if using a different driver will help. the modded 11.4 drivers are pretty good.
-
Yeah, what video drivers are you currently using?
-
inap i have question for you shouldn't the hd5870m be able to run BFBC2 maxed on dx11 i was checking the notebookcheck they were able to get 30-32 fps on different laptops ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 - Notebookcheck.net Tech.
-
yeah i get about the same fps on dx11 but during certain parts of the game you will notice that it drops down to the low 20's and sometimes lower making it feel very choppy.
-
I'm on 11.2 drivers, which i install just yesterday after a clean system format, and today i see that about 11.4, cant believe it.
Are you talking about these drivers http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/563703-new-amd-11-4-drivers.html, i thought they were released by AMD and nod Modded, or there is another package?, Thanks for point me out. -
I guess the official 11.4 were just released. You can use those. I will gave you a link for the modded ones if you want to use them.
-
I will use the one you have tested and which runs cool
, thank you
By the way, the same proccess?:
Uninstall, check that i¿m back at VGA, restart in safe mode, use driver sweeper, CC cleaner, return back to normal, clean again and install?
Thanks -
Yeah same process. I will link it once I get back to the office.
edit here is link for modded 11.4:

Thanks, can you give me also the source of this?, i wanna see what they say about. Thanks so much
-
i got it from here, not the original source. i've been using it with no issues on my r3.
your running a single 5870 right? what are your temps?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m15x/560970-cat-11-4-mobility-early-preview-drivers.html -
These are mi temps http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/530466-temp-questions-r2-2.html
I've posted some pictures in there; i will wait till you see them to install the drivers. -
the drivers are ok to install, just wanted to see your temps to see if you got room for some oc'ing. the 5870 got alot of ocing potential just as long as the temps are good.
-
Can i overclock my VCard?, god, i´m a nob
( BURNING HOLES IN GPU'S SINCE 2010 - Haha, now i understand
)
-
ocing is pretty easy, but you will have to keep an eye out on temps.
amd clock tools version 9.26 should work and is very easy to use. recommend 750/1050 to start out. -
Thanks for all your advice, but i will pass over it, my temps are high in part because of my room, so, i will not try that, i can get a fried block
-
yeah np, happy gaming
-
Hey guys, i will take this post because is related, i think.
Well, now i figure out that when i'm running fraps to record my videos i have an horrible permformance in whole the game, the machine go slow down too much, the fraps goes to 30 FPS (Which i think is normal cause i am recording) but jthe game is almost unplayable, i got a lot of drops (do you remind the 3DMark while bechmarking the CPU?, similar to that (more faster, off course).
I set FRAPS to record 30 fps and half size and also i change the movies directory (default is C:\\) to another partition (another partition of my 0 disc or to the 1 disk, both 500 GB) and this helps, is playable that way, but, is normal than my PC suffer that really annoying slowdown?, also, when i am recording at full size and in other partition, this tends to get laggy :/
So disspaointed with my system and the gameplay
