ive been following these forums for a while, so i registered to see if you guys can help me,

    so i want an alienware m17x r3 2630 6970 2 gb 8 gb of ram

but i mean the other option is the sager 8150 with the gtx 485,

pro on the alienware for me is that i love the looks, the back lit keys and 17 inch

pro for the sager is gtx 485, same specs as alienware but in 15 inch form, but looks good to me too, rubberized finish.

now when i go to the sager forum in this site everyone is talking about how they love their laptops and such but also few problems here and there posted (i mean thats the point of any forum to ask question if you have problems) but their owners thread is not overloaded with problem, but when i come to the alienware forums lol it is filled to the top with this problem and bsod this and that, and even the owner threads filled with problems, so me wanting an alienware this gets me scared, i am selling my core i 7 920 machine to get this, and it seems like they all have problems, BUT I REALLY WOULD LIKE IT TO WORK but all these problems just scare me, ive never got bsod on my desktop (it is a desktop lol i know) but paying 2000 plus and sending laptops back and bsod and asthetic issues should not happen,

what im looking for is to see if there is some machines that dont bsod or have problems with it, i dont like the sager 17 inch glossy laptop, i like the 15 inch rubberized look, but its 15 inches. and sager is known but not known like alienware, so please help me out

Just go with the flow man. I used to be like you always scared if something bad happens to my laptop. That is why we have these alienware forms for. My laptop is almost a year old and it is still going strong. I am almost sure there are more happy alienware owners out there than unhappy alienware owners with problems. Good Luck Mate

You will have issues with anything. The majority of issues on here, especially regarding the R3 are user error. Occasionally there will actually be bad hardware but for the most part the BSOD's are driver issues for example.

No matter what brand you buy, there's gonna be people with problems. You just have to buy what you want, and hope it works out :)

I have had only QC issues with the lcd panel, there was some dust behind the protective covering. Other than that I have had absolutely no BSOD or any other issues. Btw I have a similarly spec`d machine as u(in sig).

Imo the more you tinker the more problems you might have. I also believe more AW owners tinker and do stuff and they come here for help. thats why you see so many posts. this forum is healthy with problems but its also full of people who are very picky and want the most performance. And on the other hand there are lots of knowledgeable people who can fix stuff or help out as well.

Ive had 3 since december and ive not had any problems or bsods. i dont tinker I just use them out of the box.

i had a 8150 for like a week. sent it back. the 485m was sweet (as was the the sweet deal my builder cut me on the ssd, blueray, screen upgrade, and the final price ;) ) but there was a few QC issues with the laptop as well as with the responsiveness of their customer service, and i decided i didnt want to have to deal with sending the laptop back every time i needed something fixed. that's why i'm going back to dell, the NBD warranty. sure the alienware will be quite a bit more expensive, but i think the peace of mind with the warranty is worth it IMO..

on a side note, i did love the atmosphere of the sager forums a bit better. no offense guys lol. it was more organized imo, and there wasn't as big of an audience for it so we didnt get the ten million people coming on there asking dumb questions..

Hey Enkay before the m17x r3 came out i as well looked at the sager laptop and i was about to buy it. When I wanted to buy a laptop I wanted two things performance and good built quality. From the reviews, first looks etc the Sager looked like a sturdy laptop but with the lack of customer support it wasn't cut out for me.

So the m17x r3 came along and I found it to be perfect, The performance I was looking for as well as the looks. Iv been using the laptop for about two weeks and I absolutely love it, No serious issues whatsoever build quality is amazing but it still could be alot better. That being said don't be afraid to go for an m17x the issues u see are mostly driver/OS related issues and a fewa hardware issues here and there but nothing to serious.

I'm pulling the gun next week, a good way to think about it is.

Most people join or post on forums because of problems or issues.

Therefore 90% of the time you only see bad things being reported.

Hardly ever accounts for probably the 75% of all alienware machines that function perfectly.

Me personally, I'd go with the sager.

Faster gpu, not as flashy, smaller, lighter, it's a clevo.

For me the only reason to own an alienware is for dual GPU set ups (why I own an R2). Anything else is overpriced when compared to clevo.

The desktop you mention will be outperformed a little by the alienware you mention.

Add my rig into the list of perfect ones. The only issues I have are due to tinkering.
