i have this problem that pops up once in a while. when i open a page that uses flash player the screen goes flat color usually gray or orange (if it matters at all), and the sound stuck in a loop (if there was something playing before the glitch).
i cant figure it out if its the driver or the video card that is faulting.
i think the problem is somehow connected to the video aria because as i said it happens only when i use a page with a flash animation or youtube.
specs:
m17x
gtx 260m
driver Forceware 280.26
win 7 64
need help with figuring it out so i can do something about it before its to late.

did this just start happening now? Have you tried installing the newest Verde drivers from nvidia?
-
for about a month now, tried a few things (installing older driver, win altogether and such), and for the new driver.
but driver apart, i think it'll be good to know the reason for this.
ill try installing it but im a bit worried that it might be signs that something wrong with the card. -

Both will get resolved with reinstalls. IF you are getting issues in all aspects including games, then i'd be more inclined to worry more. But right now, its just a flash issue -
tnx! and btw could you link me with the Verde driver download.

A few months ago on these forums there were a few threads about a fix for most of the crashing on the Nvidia Verde drivers for the M17xR1 is to disable PCIE Gen 2 in your BIOS
Here's one of them: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...idia-verde-drivers-bsods-freezes-m17x-r1.html

Do as above and everything will be fine, you'll also e able to enjoy newer versions of nVidia drivers.
-
will it impair, in some way, the performance?

It depends on how you look at it:
PCIe Gen 2 on: BSODs, random colorful screens and lockups as drivers will try to push bandwidth to 16X, only solution is to stick with the ancient Dell P06 beta video driver.
PCIe Gen 2 off: bandwidth limited @8X, loss of few points in benchmarks but stable system = unnoticeable performance loss in real life (if any at all).
But don't worry these systems run @8X anyway, that includes AMD cards too. -
well, can always change it back.
tnx!
Software or Hardware problem?
