Hi guys, i just bought a new 970m to upgrade my laptop, which is a M17x R4 with 7970m working currently. It should be no problem about the physical part, what i'm confused is about software...

I noticed almost every thread about upgrading graphic cards has mentioned a modded driver, i don't quite understand how it works. Can i mod it myself instead of just waiting new updates and download?

And btw i'm using a Windows 7 now and i don't want to upgrade to Windows 8.1, nor re-installing the system, is that ok to make this new card work properly on my laptop?
It'll be kind if you tell me the detailed steps :)

    Thanks very much

Your display driver will not install without modded inf.. @j95 over at techinferno mods these infs... Join the tech inferno forum and pay $5 for immediate access to download any drivers ( one time fee).... Otherwise make 5 quality posts to get access which can take time..

    Yes you can mod yourself.
Take your id of the gpu found in hwino64, use this code in Display.Driver folder for nvcvi and nvdmi.inf
You have to copy/paste and edit some line, very easy.
If you are interested, i can create a tutorial but will be available in a few days not very soon.
