Does the M17x r2 mobo have 7.1 sound support? I know the jacks are 5.1 and am able to use 5.1 sound but will it work for 7.1?

Are you saying I think? I never heard of a headset that uses HDMI. There are 7.1 headsets out there. They use the normal plugs or usb.

    Anyone know for sure?

M17x as long as I know, supports stereo, quadraphonic, and 5.1 out sound through 3.5 mm jack. And HDMI supports dolby digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1. There is no build in 7.1 sound in M17x, but you can always get an external sound card, Express card maybe.

HDMI does support 8 channel (7.1) audio, however I believe the onboard sound card can only process 5.1 audio. Specifically the R2 uses HDMI 1.3c

I thought you were joking at first, but sure enough.. lol it has it's own USB sound card. That's insane lol, and $150 is a fantstic price if it's half-decent.

The Razer Megalodon is great. Just bought it last week!
I am totally happy with it. But the "virtual" surround is not that good. so for musik and stereo-movies use the stereo-feature.

For normal use i have the X-fi 5.1 usb which gives a decent audio-output.
