When I put my speakers on full blast, the quality is quite poor and crackly. Also when I watch films at like at moderate sound level, the same applies.

I am wondering if there's a way to counter this? I've been trying to play with the 'default format' in the sound options but it doesn't seem to solve the problem.

I've also noticed there's a lot of options to choose from in the 'default format' section (DVD, CD, Studio quality etc)

Any suggestions would be nice. I have the latest drivers as well.

Hi, the speakers aren't that great but if you click on sound blaster recon 3di control panel, you can choose between all sorts of settings. The speakers don't get very loud and I don't know about them being bad. They're decent speakers, not amazing though. Not sure if your sound card is faulty or not, but try to watch films with a good pair of headphones, see if the same applies. Then we can determine if it's a speaker or sound card issue, or if you're just picky about the speaker quality :p

Yeah, I think I am just extremely picky ;p. Thanks for the reply anyway omen. I'll play around with it a bit more. It isn't that bad tbh anyway, just crackles when it's a little too loud that's all really.

Sounds to me like it's just laptop speakers, they will distort as bass/volume rises. Think of how small they are lol. pic.jpg

Wow those are tiny! Wonder why they didn't put larger speakers in...

Well they are probably deemed "sufficient" by the manufacturer and have limited space. The manufacturer not only has size requirments but also weight and power consumption restrictions to be competitive on paper with other models. To me they actually sound great for a laptop speaker.

They sound a bit tinny (not tiny). To overcome this, in your sound control panel, under THX TruStudio Pro, check "Surround" and "Crystalizer" and set them to the highest. The Bass enhancer does nothing as the speaker's range is way to poor. Then Go to EQ, and get reduce 2k to minus 6 (-6). This will filter out some of the crappy sounds that a laptop speaker makes. Try it and report back.

Cheers Widezu. It helped a lot. However when on full volume the problem still persists. Other than that, it's fine.

Oh no. I've messed up somehow. The speakers are so bad now. I am on like 40% volume and there appears to be too much vibration in the speakers =/

Sounds like there is something physically wrong with your speakers? All reviews say that the speakers have good sound, especially for laptop speakers. I will be the judge of that once I receive my laptop.

Yeah. I've figured out through experimenting that it's only my left speaker because if I turn it off completely, there's no fuzzy/tinny noise. I had to call dell to call for a replacement. So it should be getting fixed on Monday, which is nice.
