When I first got this laptop (August 2010), the mic worked perfectly. The sound was crystal clear and I had no problems. Recently on Skype, people have been complaining that I sound like I am in a toilet bowl and they have a hard time understanding me.
When I plug in a USB mic, everything is okay.
To ensure it wasn't just a Skype issue, I used Sound Recorder to test it for myself and I heard what people were hearing on skype. It sounds really bad.
I've seen a couple of other threads on this, but they all seemed unresolved or did not solve my issue. I figured I'd post a new one to see if anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this.
Thank you in advance for any help and insight.

I can confirm that too.. I have to use external mic, it is a pity that expensive premium system has such a crappy built in mic

Tbh, it's terrible on all computers.
I've been through 6 laptops and they all have terrible built in mics. -
Well I guess in some way it's nice to hear that others are having the same issue as I am, but sucks at the same time because I wish there was a fix.
It really did work fine when I first got it, so I don't get it. Oh well.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. If anyone has anything else to add, go for it.
Sound quality when using built-in mic is terrible
