As you all know, the m17x comes in only two colors; black and red. I'm fine with the black, but only having red as an alternative is disappointing.

Down to the heart of the matter, is it possible to pick up a spare chassis for the laptop? I likely wouldn't want to do any cosmetic mods until a few months after I buy the laptop to make sure everything works out okay, but knowledge is power and I like being prepared.

I wouldn't be doing any painting myself. I've got a few friends in the automotive program on campus who have done the same for their Xbox's, which was very cool. An Xbox chassis seems much easier to come by, though.

Edit: Judging by the views I'm assuming this is a rather rare commodity. I'll keep looking myself. If I find anything I'll let you all know. :) So far no luck, though. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords.

We have some of the parts available, like the LCD cover and palmrest, we only have those for replacements but let me see what we can do, please send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Mind if I hold on to that for a little while? I'm not even ready to buy the computer yet. :p It'll probably be a while before I'm confident enough with it. It'd be my first time with a gaming-capable computer. My last laptop was a vaio that I got in 2007 that kept on kicking until about a year ago and that was just the monitor that died. I'm hoping I have the same experience with an AW, but I have some tests of my own before I want to do any cosmetic mods.

While I've got you here, if I were to buy from the outlet would I be able to get a new nameplate? I've been using this handle/callsign for a while and it'd be a shame to carry around a laptop with someone else's. :)

No problem, you can send the e-mail whenever you are ready. Just keep it handy.
Unfortunately no, we are not selling the nameplate as a spare part, it can only be sent blank (generic) on those computer, you can take it into a trophy shop and get it engraved :) ... We only have those for missing/incorrect orders. :)
