Hi guys, haven't posted in quite a while. I recently started having an issue where, during use of the laptop, it will automatically switch between battery and AC power, bringing up the OSD icon when it does. So if I'm playing a game or in an application (including firefox), it will randomly switch over to battery power and hang for a second, then switch back to AC power a few seconds later.

I've done everything I can think of to correct the issue. I've tried powering down, removing battery, holding power button. I have the latest BIOS. I've followed the other threads about Plugged in Not Charging issues, and it seems the problem I am having is slightly different.

Any advice guys? I can't game or really do much on the laptop because it constantly throttles back and forth which causes a ton of lag and hangs.

Sounds like the brick is giving out.

Try another Dell/Alienware 240W power brick as Meaker suggested. After that it could be motherboard/power circuitry related.

If another power brick does not solve it you could have a broken port.
