Yesterday night i spilled a glass of water on my M17xR3.

I dried it with a hair drier and i left it to dry overnight. This morning i started it up and everything works fine except the external speakers. I can see the equalizer moving but no sound. If i plug my earphones they work fine.

Any ideas how to deal with that? is it easy to remove the speakers and have them repaired by an electrician or replaced? Please advise.

I've never been so sad in my life :(

    Thanks

You should praise the elder gods those were the only things that broke, this is worthy of sacrificing young maidens.
Fortunately it doesn't look like the soundboard is damaged considering your earphones work, so you have a number of options if the speakers are modular, but it's 99% likely.
The speakers completely broke after shorting out, change the speakers.
The connector either on the speakers' side or the motherboards' burned out, in the first case again change speakers, in the second then call DELL and hope for their forgivness.
The sense controller that detects if earphones are plugged in broke so now the laptop always thinks earphones are plugged in and deactivates the speakers, again call DELL.

I do consider my self very lucky but i also reacted really fast. The problem is most likely the speakers because there was water coming out of the speaker holes. The sense control is working fine since is detects the headphones when i plug them in.

Is it easy to open the laptop without voiding the warranty and check the speakers? Is there a video tutorial or a step by step on how to reach to the speakers?

    Thanks again for your response.

I don't own an R3 so I can't say how far you go before reaching the speakers.
As for the warranty, I don't think opening the system itself voids it, DELL will replace any damage NOT caused by the user, such as faulty hardware, GPU/CPU dying during normal use and the like.
In your case I wouldn't mention the water.

If it's a high powered blow dryer, you could accidentally melt some of the plastic on the laptop. Also, you could cause a build up of static.
