Hey guys/girls. I know I posted previously that Spire wouldn't be making a boot that fit the M17x for their backpacks (probably only the give it's size). I emailed again asking about the poissibility of a custom order and was also shot down. However, this time the email was ended with them stating that if there was enough interest in a boot for the M17x then they would consider adding it to their product line.

So for those of you who like Spire bags (expensive - roomy - nice), I say email the company. Maybe in time they add a new size that accommodates the M17x.

    Which bag did you get?

How does the Spire Boot compare with the Tom Bihn Vertical Brain Cell?

Could someone take a picture of the bottom and sides and top of the Spire Boot?

Hang in there, I just got home from being away for work and am loading all the windows updates. I will try the bag in my 17" Boot for my Spire and let you all know how it fits.

Again, this is a Backpack with a 4XL boot (You may want to ask them if this is the same as a 17" boot. I'll be using this same backpack for another 4 years easily, its the best thing since sliced bread! The R3 fits perfectly in the boot, as the R2 was a tight fit, but doable. The 1730 was in between.

May I ask you what model is that backpack? Also, what was the total cost?

Well, I bought it 4+ years ago for $200 total (including the Boot). Its been to Europe a few times, I've taken my computer crap out and thinned it down for hiking in Germany. At the moment it carries two laptops, a spectrophotometer, noise cancelling headphones, itouch, att tilt, and an assortment of cables and whatnot. Its long, but for me at 6'6" its fine, but not for someone perhaps 5'10" and under.

The issue is that they no longer make the 4XL boot. The largest boot is size F and it's too small. Also, the is being redesigned and is unavailable right now.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with all these boot/sleeve makers ignoring the large PC folks and catering only to Macs...The biggest boot Spire makes now is the "F" size (15.50 x 11.50 x 2.00 inches).

This goes for Tom Binh as well with their vertical brain cell :(

In my last communication with Spire they stated that if enough interest was shown for a larger boot to accommodate the M17x then they would make one. Since I don't have time to wait for hell to freeze over I went for a Slappa bag. They're nice and will suit my needs just fine. Also cheaper then the Spire .

Yeah, I emailed Tom Bihn and didn't even get a response...

I suppose we're too small of a market to bother.
