Is there a means to split the two like on a Macbook running Windows? It was quite convenient.
Here's what I want.
Basically, the headphones out and the speakers out would appear as two different audio devices in the Sound panel, with two different volume controls; and with programs that allow routing their audio signals to specific devices, there'd be the possibility to have one program's sound via the headphone out and the other via the speakers.
Why? For example, I used to have my music player play through the headphones out, I had excellent sound thanks the good quality headphones and the music wasn't interrupted by Skype sounds, a video loading on a web page, or the antivirus telling me it had updated. Nevertheless those sounds would still play through the laptop speakers at a low volume.
Another reason would be to avoid plugging the jack in and out repeatedly and potentially wear the connection out prematurely just to chose between whether I want to output sound via the headphone out and the speakers.

I don't think that's possibile with only 1 sound card. But i'd love to be proven wrong

OTOH, it seems Alienware buried the setting somewhere inaccessible.
