    Hi,

i have a Alienware MX 17 with i7 2760 QM processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 580M (driver version: 8.17.13.142) and Intel Graphics 3000.

When i play Starcraft somtimes i get 30 to 60 FPS and sometimes i get 170-200 FPS. I have my settings on low (thats how i like it best).

It seems that sometimes its running through the intel card and sometimes through the nvidia.

Powermanagement is on performace and when i look in the nvdia settings program that says that SC2 is using the nvidia GPU.

It's just really annoying because i have this expensive laptop mostly to play SC2 (lol) and yet all i get is 40 FPS most of the time.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

    Regards,
    val

    Hi Luis,
    thanks for getting back!

I did that. I set the default gpu for sc2 to high performance and i also start it with right click saying 'use high performance gpu'... yet i still get 15fps on high and 40 on low settings.

    Any other ideas?

I just uninstallted the drivers with driver sweepter and ccleaner and reinstalled newer drivers. but still problem persists.

    thanks for the help!

yeah at the moment it doesn't seem to come on with any game. the last time i heard that sweet sound of the gpu fan was when i installed the new nvidia bios. then it worked until i turned my notebook of for the night and the next morning all back to the same old 40fps on low settings.

i tried age of empires and i never hear the fan coming on. should i send your guys an email?
