I'm trying to figure out which SC2 settings are best. I run everything on High with Vsync on and Reduce Mouse Lag on as well, but when things bog down I get into the mid 40 fps with small slow down. If I take off reduce mouse lag, I stay @ 60 but when I push the mouse to the sides of the screen it isn't perfectly responsive. If I take Vsync off there's minor tearing, but I get into the mid 100's in FPS. What's the best way to do it? I'm using 11.5c Ati official drivers with the 11.5 CAD3 (I believe) app profiles.
Any thoughts?

Every pro player plays SCII with settings on low/medium. You know if you have all the eye candy on, there is a long standing issue where you can easily misclick the minerals when sending your scv/probe/drone to mine.
Check out some of the personal streams on JustinTV and you will see the pros using low/medium settings to give themselves the competitive edge.
I know this as I am the advertising manager for an SCII league team -
I watch streams all the time and plenty of people play on high. What misclick issue had to do with graphics settings? The GSL computers play the game on ultra from what I understand.
Regardless, I'm trying to figure out what people with the m17x R2 use in terms of Vsync / reduce mouse lag. -
But if you're a casual player, play it with max everything, like I do

I personally run it at 1080p ultra everything. Blizzard games are quite cpu heavy so the i7 helps in this case. No vsync and yea sure you can turn on reduced mouse lag, it doesn't really kill your performance. I can even play sc2 in 3D with 1080p ultra. Sure it's not 60fps but it's definitely smooth enough!

I could never play SCII on max everything at native res. There were times when I was hitting 60fps, but it was few and far between. I messed with a couple of settings to hit 60 constant. Those 2nd gen CPUs must be beastly.
I think I turned down some setting that had to do with how detailed the ground was, and of course, the less AA the better your performance will be too. -
Turbod, do you need to use vsync to get rid of tearing? Do you feel that your mouse pushing to scroll the screen lags a bit without reduce mouse lag? I have vsync and reduce mouse lag both enabled with everything on high and I get a smooth 60 fps for the most part. in some engagements i drop to 40ish. I used to play with just vsync on everything high and not use reduce mouse lag and i never dropped below 60. After trying reduce mouse lag, I can't go back to before. Its much smoother. I just wish it didn't drop my fps in heavy action.
In regards to vsync and reduce mouse lag, what do you use? -

I did use both vsync and reduce mouse lag. I can't stand screen tearing. Some folks put up with it for the sake of more fps, but I just can't do it. If you reduce some other settings to get a constant 60fps, the other symptoms *should* alleviate themselves.

You "did"? do you no longer play?

I play sc2 at extreme/ultra everything, v-sync off (really don't notice much tearing) at native resolution(1080p). I get 80-120 fps in the average game and 50-90 in custom games where 1200 mobs spawn every 20 seconds. At default gpu clocks (680/900) and slightly OCed cpu (104 bclk).
Using the new m18x amd 6970m driver posted in the suggested driver thread by Batboy. All other drivers are stock. -
Everything maxed out, just no FSAA.

I use low settings with vsync and no mouse lag. -
What is the misclick issue?
Starcraft II settings?
