When I plug in my TripleFi 10s into the r4 earphone jack I hear this noticeable buzzing static noise. Also I experience a lot more sibilance (the "s" sound is a lot more pronounced) when using my TF10s with the R4 compared to my phone or old laptop (Gateway P7811FX). What could be the issue? As far as I'm aware the Recon3Di is supposed to be a pretty good sound card?

(Happens both on AC and battery power)

Does it happen with other earphones?

No, i have a feeling it's related to the impedance of the TF10s, although I'm not entirely sure or how to fix it exactly...

What is the rated impedance of your earphones? I've been using a pair of Sony MDR-V900HD's with an impedance of 24 ohms without and issues. Not sure if it's because of the new card in the R4 though.

    32 ohms, 1 kHz I believe.

I'm not familiar enough with earphones to say for sure that's the cause but 32 ohms is pretty up there! I would think that higher impedance would lead to low volume rather than static but like I said, I'm not an expert in this aspect.

My R4 has the same issue here when I plug in Sennheiser IE 8 with 16 ohms impedance. Is it because of the sound card? Because with R3 I never heard the static noise.

That's interesting. I don't get any static on my R3. Do you guys get static with external speakers and/or the built-in speakers?

As far as I can remember, the same static issue occured with Creative usb external sound card. I am wondering if the sound card in R4 is meant for high impedance earphone?

I also had some issues with my Turtle Beach X12s and my M17x R4 but they seem to be resolved by a restart and changing the USB port which was powering the headphones.
