Guys the r4 I received shows 2 columns of light along the mid half of the screen ( like "bleed" fromthe LCD, however it's very light and worse on dark images and movies) on either sides, it almost appears as if there may be ?bonding issues b/w the LCD and the plexiglass and to my eyes it looks like a 3D effect (passive) when I move my head form side to side.....this wouldn't have been an issue if I didn't get headaches from this "optical error"

Can you guys shed some light

This is based on the 7970m and the FHD screen

Well it's an LED screen, and there should not be those pixel issues you mention. What current drivers are you using and has it been this way since day one.

Do the bleeding column of pixels happen right from start up, or only when in Windows?

It's visible against a black background, windows or otherwise

Well it's an led back lit, and no, no pixels are stuck, and it's been like this since day 01

Sounds like your LCD screen was damaged when it was bonded to the plexiglass. This might be a factory defect. I know how it sounds, but post a photo of the bleeding columns against a black background. That way we can give a definitive answer if this is an LCD defect or other possible causes. But based on what you're describing, I'm leaning towards factory defect.

You can try an external monitor. If it does not appear there send us an e--mail to [email protected] with your tag, phone and a brief description of the issue and we'll get back to you ASAP.

I did AW L-Porras, and finally got through a sensible guy who immediately understood the issue but unfortunately I didn't get a follow up call so when I called up dell the next guy who eventually talked to me said "I don't care what stories you make up but I will only authorize a refund not a replacement, even though the system is within the 21 days of delivery"...so it was either a refund or get my laptop opened up (which ihave done on my 3rd m17 r3 in 4 months back in"11, and after another week of haggling did they relent to replace my laptop...because it still wasn't working and had new issues)

The issue is so critical in my house, that my wife has given an ultimatum that since we both have enough stress of work (ER and ICU docs) she can't see me go through the same ( taking time off and trying to co-ordinate with home dell tech rep) and if this machine gets refunded we will not have another AW in our house......because as far as she can see...a 4 year old Acer net book with a n270/AOD 150 and a 2011 MBP are still going strong....and I have bought and returned 4 m17's in 2011 to early 2012, and then went around to buy this one now

I'm in the same boat para. I just got a new m18x r2 that won't boot out of the box and they want to fix it { fix an hour old system??? No way] or refund. I was on the phone for 3 hours and no one would just exchange the damn thing for me. I could understand a few weeks old. But an hour old and it doesn't work! Ahhh!
