when you right click and go to nvidia control panel (I am not sure you have one) what is the system information?

8.17.12.6903 is clearly an ATI driver version though...

I didn't have a nvidia control panel, just the intel graphics panel. It was running of some discrete graphics card though, as skyrim played on ultra with no problem at all.

I got impatient so i am reinstalling windows now and I have a bad feeling my "GTX 580M" will magically turn into a 6970 or 6990... idk though i cannot judge yet..

i didnt look at the card when i put in my new ssd though so i have no idea what card it is, but i just have this feeling this company would do something shady like this..

thank you for answering! EDIT: Any thing else I can do to verify it is a legit GTX 580M? thanks!

Hello there, you can always check what dedicated graphics card you have in your system bios. There it will tell you if you have and Nvidia or an ATI card installed in your system. Just simply press F2 while the laptop is booting up (when you see the alien head as soon as you press your power button). I hope that this helps.
