    For some reason my 17 ( built April 2014) will only work properly when plugged in. When on battery power it keeps freezing and rebooting. Battery fully charged with no low battery warnings etc, anyone experience this?

    Could be a failing battery or loose cabling or bios, so for starters flash your BIOS and open up the thing and reconnect the battery cable.
