I performed the seemingly impossible and installed an AUO b173hw01 v.4 LCD into my m17x r3. I now have two problems. First, on start up and when I turn the brightness all the way down, a large white bright spot can be seen in the very center of my screen which moves with pressure. I reinstalled the screen twice to see if it was a pressure problem and I'm not sure what the deal is. Second, just off the bottom right corner I have a pixel that is not behaving like his conforming friends. It appears dark on any background. On a blue background it disappears completely, on a red background part of it disappears, on a black background it disappears completely. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm run some software solutions like JScreenFix and UDPixel but to no avail. I'm wondering if I should run these things for hours or my 20 minute usage is acceptable.

Edit: It actually appears dim white against a black background.

Well AUO panels are not top quality, and hearing stuff like this is not unusual. I know a lot of shops that sell panels do not take them back, but have you discussed with the reseller about replacement options?

I have not. The reseller has a 3 year no dead/stuck pixel warranty and would send me a new one immediately if I asked. Regardless, I'd prefer to not have to completely tear apart my computer again and install another screen. The weird backlight problem doesn't bother me as I used the computer at brightness levels where the light is not even noticeable (literally not there). The stuck pixel does and I'd like to try and fix it instead of spending the 2+ weeks of installing a new LCD.

You can try and massage the pixel to see if it will act normally. I've done it to a few Samsung (AUO/Chungwa) panels and it works. It doesn't work all the time though. If the pixel refuses to be massaged out, get a replacement done up.

Got it, I'll try and massage it through the E to E glass with some flashing RGB screenies and try to coax it back to life. Really annoying. It seems so insignificant considering its no bigger than a single spec of dust but I bought this LCD for color perfection and I can't have a blight on the screen :)

If you were looking for color perfection, my top pick would be Sharp and second being LG/Philips. That's just my opinion though. I've also see less dead pixel issues with those two manufacturers.
