Hey guys this is my first thread here ,

So i bought the M17x it worked great for 2-3 days, until i started to notice this lag/freezing that was happening. This problem was really brought up by games. Every few seconds the game would just freeze for a second or so where i couldnt do anything and then it would return to normal.
The problem has progressively become worse with games now being borderline unplayaable.

During the freeze the HDD access lights(on the alien power button) light up and freeze as well.

So after a bit of looking up on google, turns out that the problem is with the XT Momentus Hybrid Drive.
It spins up and down irregularily causing the lag spikes.
Its all over the forums, this stuttering issue with the drive.

Some suggestions were to update drivers , well i have the latest dell driver for the drive that didnt help.

The issue was of APM(Advanced Power Management) that was spinnig down to save on power.
Well i tried disabling APM using crystaldiskinfo as well as quiteHDD(This programs dedicated specifically to tackle this issue of APM).
While this has worked for some other users it hasnt for me.

I checked the drive sectors for errors and that hasnt helped either.

Ive tried about everything now and really dont know what to do know, except replace the drive with a standard HDD .

Are any of you guys also experiencing such problems?

My system is fully up to date in terms of drivers.

Here are the specifications of my system :
    GTX 580m
    i7 2670qm
    4 GB RAM
and the Seagate XT Momentus 500gb

Some help would really be appreciated,
    Thanks

i don't know of many regulars that have the momentus XT...and the ones that do don't complain about this issue.

what firmware version are you on? i assume that you've played with your power settings (i.e., set to performance) and your harddrive to not shut off?
