is this supposed to happen? first time i ever noticed it but if too much direct sunlight hits my screen then the hue/contrast adjusts itself and turns the screen a nasty yellow color.

I have a m17xR2 and my screen does the same thing! It only took a strip of light from some blinds to turn it really yellow. After experimenting with where the light hits, I found out it only turn yellow if the LCD screen is exposed to sunlight in a small spot in the top left corner. Everything else can be exposed but that small spot and it'll look normal.

This just happened to me and I googled you. Did you find out anything from dell?

Why would anyone put a $3000 laptop in direct sunlight to see if the screen goes yellow? Why not try lasers next? A shotgun? How about arranging for it to be sat on one of Fukushima's melted fuel piles for an hour to see if the screen turns green?

Cover the webcam. I believe the webcam monitors light levels.
