The drivers wont install. Installation starts but always fails and says it's incomplete. This is on the R3.

    This one? Synaptics Touchpad Driver

If so, my only recommendation would be to go into the Device Manager and uninstall the touchpad, reboot, and then try to install the driver again. And you can always force the driver install using the 'have disk' method.

Uninstalled long time ago. Installation continues to fail. What is the have disk method?

Extract the Synaptics driver using whatever program you use for that sort of thing. I use Winrar. Go into the WinWDF folder, then the x64 folder. There you're going to see a file named synpd.inf. This is file you're going to look for here in a bit. Now go into your Device Manager and find the touchpad. Right click on it and select 'Update Driver Software...'. Then select 'Browse my computer for driver software'. Then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. Then choose 'Mice and other pointing devices', and hit 'Next'. Now hit the 'Have Disk...' button and browse to the .inf file I told you about earlier, then hit 'OK'. That window will disappear. Now hit 'Next'. You'll get a warning about bla, bla, bla. Ignore it and continue. Follow the prompts after that, as I am not going to install the R3 driver on my R2. Should be self-explanatory.

If this doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device"

Under it it says: The semaphore timeout period has expired
