    Hi there,

Has anyone found a way to get Scrybe working on an Alienware M17x R2. I have managed to install it ok, but cannot get the software to work with the trackpad. I would love to use multitouch gestures with this machine, as I find them very useful on my other machines.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Regards
    Sanj

OK, have tried that and cannot get three-finger guesture to work. I have the following versions of software:

    Synaptics Gesture Suite Version: 10.2
Synaptics TouchPad Driver Version 15.2.7 22Dec10
    Scrybe version: 1.6.4.0

    TP HW
Module: TouchPad Series 2.0 - Profile Sensor
    TP FW: V7.0
    Interface: PS2

Windows Version: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

Alienware BIOS is A10 which is the latest.

I can see that you have it working fine on your video, so any idea what I am missing?

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Regards
    Sanj

    ok
If you already have installed just remove and clean the registry with ccleaner
then install only the driver for your operating system,

    Drivers | Synaptics

just install the full driver there is the Scrybe, I just put it again and works perfectly

Mine works fine, grabbed the latest driver from synaptics website and before installing, just uninstalled Dell synaptics driver, swept and ccleaned and its fine.

A quick 3 fingered firm tap in the middle of the trackpad opens the gesture window and then just use the gesture you want for whatever app you want to open...

It is really cool! - no reason why you cant get it to work!

It should be in the list as "synaptics" when you go thru control panel/programs/uninstall.....just uninstall it via programs/uninstall and install the version direct from Synaptics website.

Do you have the scrybe icon in the notification area on the task bar?....if so, i cant see any reason why you cant use it if its installed....maybe its how you are trying to open the gesture window...i know i found it weird to get used to.

3 fingers, right across the middle of the trackpad in a horizontal line but fingertips spaced apart a little bit......have a play around with trying to open it.....NOTE...your fingertips have to be in a horizontal line when you touch the pad and i find it works best if your fingers are a little bit apart.

Do not see what you're doing wrong, start from scratch, since dell driver leaves, clean the registry several times until you've displayed nothing.

    just install this driver

    Download License Agreement | Synaptics

is for windows 7 64 bit

restart the system and that's it, no more complications

There are currently 2 Scrybe-Icons. Is this right or is that the problem?

EDIT: Working now. Thank you guys +rep

Thats right....the circular red arrow is the scrybe program.....just click it and you can edit the different gestures to open apps or visit websites.....really handy! - glad you got it working! :D

Nah - I wanted to do the same so that it launched Ebay UK not US....no option to edit the factory presets unfortunately....you can create your own tho, which is what I have done and just assign them a gesture that you want to use to launch.

I think "E" was Ebay US but I added Ebay UK and use "e" instead.

Tried it out last night, really impressive if you're not using a mouse but if you are, it doesn't automatically disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in like the dell driver.

Found a reg file that a member on here posted that adds that functionality but the touchpad lights don't go off on the touchpad when its disabled if you plug a mouse in.

Definitely a step in the right direction but Dell needs to update our drivers to Scrybe for us to get full functionality.

Guys, can you help me please
I just installed the latest Synaptics driver I downloaded at Synaptics homepage and everything works fine till now. But 1 problem: I have no light at the touchpad zone when I use only the touchpad and when I pulg in my mouse as well.
Is that because of the new driver or because of my lappy ? :(

If you open the trackpad icon on the taskbar, under device settings, make sure that the box that says "disabled touchpad when external mouse plugged in" is clear....save and exit.

When this box is checked and you use an external mouse, it deactivates the Lights.

Also, if this doesnt solve it, try going into Command Centre and playing about with the colours of the trackpad to make sure they are on/working.
