    Hi

I recently started seeing that the temps on my m17x R4. were getting too hot. When i was running intel burn test one of the cores was hitting 95C degrees and 105C at one point as a max temperature. So I decided to repaste them since cleaning didn't help much. It went 1-3 degrees down.. I used mx-4 and it seemed to get the temperatures down. However sadly event on low activity occasionnaly they spike to 69 degreess.

After 1h intel burntest running my cpu hits 98C which seems just ridiculously high for a 3740m.

I also was wondering what are the actual cover screws and fan. Since if I am going to open up my laptop they are going to be screwed unscrewed a lot. For Am I correct at assuming that they are M2*3mm for the back panel and the same for fans? What are the exact screwdriver head you are using the 3mm?

my 3610 will reach under high stress 76.. not 1 single degree higher..
i repasted with arctic silver 5. and there is still a little dust in heatsink (they will get replaced after the weekend so i wasnt bothered)
this is using prime95.. on 3.06ghz on all 4 cores.

i never had this high temps. did u overclock it?

if u repasted it with ic diamond (wich is a good, possibly better paste than the one i used) it shouldnt go higher than 80 under full stress, unless oc..

to open it up i just use pz1 + screwdriver, wich works perfectly..
i opened and completely stripped it about 8 times, still has the original screws and fittings.. only thing i broke was a tap of the hdd1 bay.

as reference,.. i just played bo2 for about 1 hour and my cpu didnt go higher than 63 C according to hwinfo 64

    ,....
    Edit..
    ....

Can u show a screenshot of the clockspeed and temp.. And fan rpm?
    What bios are u using?

U can try to put the fans manually to 100% . then do a test (prime95?). See what the temps are there..

If it still gets hot with 100% fan and prime95. U have to search the problem in hardware.. U can repaste it again, or maybe the fan is faulty or something?

My pc is indeed overlocked, but nothing violent it's just the turbo boost multipliers exactly like in one of the other threads here on notebookreviews. overclock temperatures.png

I repasted my cpu yet again, just in case with an even thinner layer. In my experienc with desktops intelburn test generates on average higher temperatures than pime 95. I ran it on stress lvl very high. And this is what I obtained: intel-burn-test-stress-lvl-very-high.gif

Sadly the peak temperature hits 90C before the fans go to 4000RPM also another issue is that the temperature only stabilizes at 86-87 degrees after running this stress test for 10minutes

I believe that it is weird that they do not spin at their maximum speed of 4500 RPM. Actually I have never seen them run on that speed... unless forced. Might it be the bios fan profile at fault? Since manaly i am able to run them at max speed. And when I do the temps never go over 84C at peak.

The bios I am using is A13.

Thank you for your time answering me.

That's high, you should consider repasting.
