    I'm going to be ordering a 17 R4 tomorrow with a 7700HQ, 1060 6GB with the 1920x1080p IPS panel...

How are the heat issues? All solved? I was told that they are by multiple sales reps.

Sales reps are full of it. Dell redefined overheating to like 110C.

That said, they are probably much less than they were before, but post in the AW owner's lounges to get answers from people who aren't getting paid when you buy their stuff.

@iunlock would probably know the state everything is in.

The new units of the ones that I've had my hands on (which is a lot) have all been well if kept stock.

As with any gaming laptop, once you unleash the power limits the temps will sore and a repaste is a must. Mandatory...not an option.

The core differentials (of the units that I've driven) are very good.

There are some units in the wild that are lemons, but what I can tell you for sure is that they are improved, not perfect, but improved to the point where if you're staying stock, you should be okay.

Dell has updated the thermal compounds on the CPU which is helping with the temps out of the box.

Basically, the heat readings you're getting are from the internal part of the core the "T-Junction" which is why computers are sometimes reading a spike of up to 90°C - Which is normal. The computer is not hindered by it in any way. We did have a challenging beginning, fan tables and thermal pasting had some areas of improvement. But if you find yourself having any issues with the computer the moment you get it. Feel free to hit me up with a Private Message and your Service Tag. I'll look into that matter.

The heat issue are still present with a gtx 1060?

I use CM NotelPal U3 and it drops my temps by 8°C (I have Aw17 R1).
