I am waiting for the 680m to be available before i order my m17x , as i wanted the 3d screen , but is it really worth getting it ? i have a 3d projector at home , and 3d should be played on a large screen .
But i suppose the laptop will be close to your eyes anyway .
So recommendations guys 3d or no 3d ? i will use it to play 3d bluerays as well , not just game ?

completely up to you. i kinda think of mine as a novelty as it was my first foray into 3d. i use it very little, but i dont regret getting it.
i think since you already have 3d, then see how much you use it. if you use it daily or at least 4 times a week then youd probably think it worth it on a laptop. if you use it couple times a month then you should probably skip it on the laptop. another plus is you will already havae the 3d blurays.

Playing with 3D enabled will impact performance, so you need to factor that into your decision. Many would argue that if you're getting an NVIDIA gpu anyway, the 3D screen is worth having, simply because it's 120hz.

It's one of those things that if you plan on using it, then definitely get it. Since you already experienced 3D, and it looks like you enjoy it, then go for it. I have heard of people not ever using it, but love the fact that they have a 120Hz screen.

I'm glad I didn't get it because of the fact that I'm not tied down to just NVidia GPUs. But the 120Hz screen is a nice option.

Well friend..u know wat 3D is and have the experience...I dont really think you really require a 3D laptop. I got it bcoz it was the only one available for replacement in India and for the quality of the screen plus 120Hz refresh rate.

You already have what it really takes to enjoy 3D. Unless you are very keen to constantly be on 3D and mobile too, dont go for it.

Even thought more than 1 person can view it with you I dont think its comfortable viewing when a 3rd person is added.

This would be my personal suggestion.

It's up to you. I don't care for 3D, certainly not on a laptop and even less so if it means I'll be giving up performance two-fold (in the 675m over the 7970m and the blow to performance gaming in 3D creates).

    I wouldn't.

To get the 3D screen you have to get the Nvidia cards and the 7970 is far better than the 675 option for the Nvidia cards.

To use 3D you're effectively halving your FPS in an already weak card compared to the 7970.

My mistake, if you're going to go with the 680m which is roughly equal to the 7970m then I guess you have the option of playing at 120FPS/120Hz or 60FPS 3D.

If you have the money then go for it IMO.
