    Greetings everyone !

I need your help. I have this Alienware m17x R1, it's brand new ... never used because it never booted. It was rebuilded by Dell in ... 2012 !

It was rebuild-ed : new CPU, new motherboard, new GPU, new ram, new HDD, etc.

I wasn't able to boot the system because it had a short when I plugged in the AC adaptor (blue light would turn off when I inserted the plug).

I had the whole system taken a part, parts cleaned, verified, re-assembled, re-pasted, still same issues ...

Recently (just now !) I wanted to give it another try. I did the opposite. I removed parts 1 by one and tried inserting the power cable to see if the blue light would turn off ...

    1. Removed power button / media bar ... no luch
    2. Removed keyboard ... TADA ! Blue light still on

I found out it was the keyboard that was the issue ... So I plugged back the media bar, but even when I press the power button the system won't turn on ... is it because there is no keyboard plugged in ? Maybe Power Bar is also defective (but not causing short). ?

Can I boot the system without those 2 items plugged in ?

It's been almost 4 years I tried to power up this system ... it's going to my nephew, short story, he don't (or his family) have the money to buy any laptop and started high school this year.

    Any help is welcome.

Hmm, I'm a bit confused. Mind clearing things up for me? Please post the exact system specifications.

You can also verify the ribbon cable from the keyboard to power button.
